There are lots of advantages to the latest version of Infor CRM SLX, but without question the most significant is the introduction of seamless upgrades.

What does “seamless upgrades” mean?

Seamless Upgrades means that from v8.5 onwards, your customizations will no longer prevent you from adopting future product releases. Gone are the days when a customization branched your instance of CRM off the core code, and rendered it expensive and time consuming to upgrade. Instead, once you’ve upgraded to v8.5, customizations are now kept separate from the Infor CRM core, meaning you can stay current on the most recent version of CRM without the hassle and expense of merging or recreating controls into out of box screens. All of your customizations roll with you seamlessly into the next release, without extra effort, so that no matter how much you have customized the core product, upgrades to the next version are quick and easy.

My name is Deanne Thompson, and I am the QA Manager for Infor CRM SLX.  I have been with the product for over 16 years. I started out as a QA Engineer, and now as a Manager I also work closely with our support team regarding customer issues and escalations. I was born in Ohio but have lived in Arizona since I was four.  I live with my husband, 12-year-old daughter and one dog.  I enjoy making Infor CRM SLX the best product it can be and strive to find all the pesky bugs before release.

My name is Allie Behnke and I’ve been with Infor for almost 6 years. I started my journey with Infor as an Account Manager selling d/EPM and XM then moving to the Channel managing our CRM product for the past 5 years. With the release of Infor CRM SLX (8.5.01), we’re excited to say we have brought back the full power and flexibility of web client Mail Merge functionality using your favorite browser. Did you catch that?… Your favorite browser. That means Microsoft Edge, Firefox or even something like the Brave browser. Everybody can play in this new release.

We have learned a few tricks along the way and have thrown in some additional functionality that uses your Microsoft Office Word template functionality too. We’ve made accessing the Mail Merge functionality simple by adding a ‘Compose’ menu option to the top navigation pane in CRM

From there you get access to all the goodies, including the ability to manage all of your saved templates, or simply kicking off the process to send a mail merge document. Not only does the feature do all the things you would expect from mail merge like sending a templated email to a targeted list of contacts or generating the month’s invoices, using the best-looking templates you can design.

Those who have been part of the Infor CRM family for a while probably recall the process you had to go through to create your templates in prior releases. Tis has been significantly simplified in the current version, using Microsoft Word’s template design tools to much more easily link fields, join data from multiple entities (Accounts, Contact, Orders as an example) and even using the templates to create tables – perfect for Quotes and Order forms.
